The World Bank, Kazakhstan
Before joining the World Bank, Mikhail worked in the Russian Research Institute of Economics, Policy and Law in Science and Technology, the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Eurasia Foundation. Starting from 2000, he has been involved in a number of World Bank-supported projects focusing on the use of digital economy, digital government, IT industry development, open data, technology commercialization in the CIS and Eastern Europe countries. In 2017, he was the task manager for the project involving advisory support for Russia’s Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications in preparation of the Digital Economy program. Mikhail has been involved in preparation of a number of World Bank analytical reports on digital development issues, including “Competing in the Digital Age: Policy Implications for the Russian Federation” (2018), “Digital Government 2020: Prospects for Russia” (2016) and “Broadband in Russia” (2015). He is currently based in the World Bank Central Asia Regional Office in Almaty where he focuses on coordinating World Bank’s digital development work program in Central Asia.
